By Andrew Gorosko
Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) members have reelected Democrat Lilla Dean to another one-year term as chairman of the agency that oversees planning and zoning for the town, and planning for the borough.
P&Z members unanimously reelected Ms Dean to the chairmanship at the land use agencyâs December 15 session.
Present at the meeting were Ms Dean and Republican regular members Robert Mulholland, Jane Brymer, Michael Porco, Sr, and Jim Swift.
Also attending were alternate member Rudolph Pozek, who is an unaffiliated voter who was endorsed by the Democrats in the November elections, and alternate member Republican Peggy Fillion. One alternate memberâs seat on the agency is vacant.
The panelâs full complement is five regular members and three alternate members.
Ms Dean has been the P&Z chairman since June 2007, when she replaced former P&Z member Republican William OâNeil as chairman. Ms Dean of Hawleyville was first elected to the P&Z in November 1997.
At the December 15 session, P&Z members also unanimously elected Mr Mulholland as vice chairman. It is the first time Mr Mulholland has been named a P&Z officer.
Also, P&Z members unanimously reelected Ms Brymer to another term as secretary. Ms Brymer has served as the groupâs secretary since December 2006.
Mr Swift and Ms Fillion were first elected to the P&Z in the November elections.
The P&Z promotes the orderly and coordinated development of the town and the general welfare and prosperity of its residents through the implementation of various land use regulations.
