Calder’s Continuing Inspiration

LITCHFIELD — Thirty years after his death, Alexander Calder continues to inspire, fascinate, and challenge the imagination of artists and non-artists alike.

From January 7 until January 28, , the Marie Louise Trichet Gallery at Wisdom House will host an exhibit entitled “Kids On Calder” to honor the artist who died in 1976.

Student artists from Litchfield, Bantam, Morris and Goshen will have works on exhibit which were inspired by the life and work of the artist who lived in Roxbury. The exhibit will include wire sculptures, paintings, mobiles and stabiles.

The youth worked for four months under the direction of artist Frances Clem of Bantam in her student art program.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, January 7, from 1 to 3 pm, at Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center, 229 East Litchfield Road. The public is invited to meet the artists and experience the imaginative exhibit.
