Athletes

The Newtown High School sports program not only boasted two NSCAA/adidas All-Americans and three All-New England selections this past fall, but it also boasted an incredible 17 All-State nominees according to a list provided by athletic director Gregg Simon.

On the cross country trail it was Alister Ratcliff (All-New England), Eric MacKnight, Zack Schwartz and Sadie Ball receiving the honors and on the soccer pitch it was Marc Doherty (All-New England, NSCAA/adidas and PARADE All-American), Casey Frobey (All-New England) and Alex Konneker.

On the football field it was Marc Ingerman receiving the honor; on the volleyball court it was Diana Grimaldi; and on the field hockey pitch it was Erin Clark. And in the pool it was Shannon Kennedy, Melissa Metzger, Abby Atkinson, Maricate Conlon, Sally Tabler, Jaclyn Van Waalwijk and Dana Gnerre.
