Additional Opportunities To See ‘Ghost Of A Chance’

NEW MILFORD — Due to popular demand, TheatreWorks New Milford has extended its hit family-friendly holiday original, Ghost Of A Chance, with a show on December 30, a New Year’s Eve gala on December 31, and two additional performances on January 6 and 7.

With book and lyrics by TheatreWorks’s artistic director William Hughes, music and lyrics by Steven Oliveri, and a colorful parade of puppets, this sequel to Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol has been a hit with both audience and critics.

For The Newtown Bee, Julie Stern recently wrote: “It is those raffish, leering, scratching puppets who keep the audience really entertained, right up until the unexpected Dickensian ending,” while The New Milford Times applauds the show as “a unique, entertaining and creative play with much going for it, including humor and holiday entertainment.”

The play begins with the mysterious death of everyone’s favorite miser, Ebenezer Scrooge. After his Christmas Day redemption, he apparently fell from his window on New Year’s Eve... or was he pushed? His sole heir, nephew Fred Pennyworth, is now on trial for the murder.

The testimony of a series of colorful witnesses reveals some truths, some lies, and a lot of laughs before the final verdict is heard.

Remaining performances of Ghost Of A Chance continue will be Fridays and Saturdays, December 30-31 and January 6-7. Curtain is 8 pm, and tickets are $17.50 for general admission.

On New Year’s Eve, at 8 pm, there will be one gala performance with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar of wine, beer and soft drinks. Tickets for this event are $35.

Reservations can be made at www.TheatreWorks.us or by calling 860-350-6863.
