Connecticut Choral Society and Trinity Episcopal Church presented an Evensong service on December 8, coinciding with both the second Sunday of Advent and Newtown Holiday Festival.

Trinity Rector Andrea Castner-Wyatt welcomed guests to the service.

The Connecticut Choral Society was conducted by Jennifer Sisco, and Michael Lantowski accompanied the performance on organ.

Audience members noted how moving the service was and that the music was superb.

Evensong is a cherished treasure of the Anglican and Episcopalian traditions, a service of sung evening prayer that combines choral music, readings from scripture, and ancient prayers, which has remained largely unchanged since the mid-16th Century.

The peaceful and reflective atmosphere of Evensong has increased in popularity in modern times, with individuals of wide-ranging religious backgrounds attending services together.
