Outstanding In Their Fields
Outstanding In Their Fields
To the Editor:
Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball would like to thank Barbara Kasbarian and Carl Samuelson and his crew for doing an outstanding job this past year maintaining the baseball fields and for handling the installation of the new score boards at the Glander complex. Carl took the lead on this project in the 12th hour and succeeded in completing the installation in time for the Twelve-Year-Old-State Tournament held there this past summer. Having working and reliable score boards for the tournament improved the quality of the event and kept Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball at the top of the list for quality programs.
The season was over less than a week when Carl and his crew were hard at work on new projects â here are just a few:
1. Converting Glander 1 to a dual-purpose field serving as both a 45/60 and the new 50/70 configuration (distance from pitcher to home plate/baseline distance).
2. Reworking the entire infield at Walnut Tree Hill.
3. Reworking the infield at Liberty to improve the pitcherâs mound and base paths.
I believe everyone associated with the league would agree that the fields are in the best shape they have ever been in. Thanks Barbara and Carl and keep up the good work. You are instrumental in Newtown having such quality programs for all our children.
