Michael Parker canned 18 points and Kevin Conte added 13 more with eight rebounds to lead the Killer Bees past the Warriors, 44-21, in Newtown Youth Basketball Bantam Boys division action last weekend.

In travel news, the Newtown Attack girls’ sixth-grade team captured a pair of easy wins over Ridgefield and Monroe.

Here are all the results –

TRAVEL

Boys 7th

Danbury PAL 56, Newtown 46 – Taylor Steimle scored 14 points, Kyle Wilcox tossed in 11 and Josh Barrett added 10 as Newtown fell to a quick Danbury team. The locals were down four at half and quickly tied the score, but Danbury would not ease up and tallied 18 points in the third quarter to put the game away. Dom Fedak added seven points as Anthony Beraduci and David Lucia powered the defense.

Girls 6th

Attack 34, Ridgefield 15 – Erin Kenning, Bridget Power and Julia Trudell had strong offensive performances to lead the Attack to the win. Maddy Good pulled down five rebounds and Claire Miles had three blocked shots while Samantha Steimle had four assists.

Attack 33, Monroe 15 – Tressa Scott and Stephanie Roman combined for eight assists to lift the Attack to the win. Meaghan Harkins and Brittany Tolla had four steals apiece while Suzie Gissen had a season high five points and four rebounds in the victory.

Boys 5th

New Haven 49, Newtown 15 – Jim Parker and Mike Davis combined for nine points as Newtown fell to New Haven. Connor Gallagher, Brian LeBlanc and Virgil Procaccini played well defensively.

Newtown 42, Ridgefield-St Mary’s 23 – Matt Mossbarger and Chase Wurtz combined for 17 points and played outstanding overall games as Newtown captured the win. Drew Tarantino, Grant Rickets and Matt Hoyt combined for 12 points. Jonah Muniz played a strong defensively.

Westport 38, Newtown 27 – Westport withstood a strong fourth quarter comeback by Newtown to win by nine. Drew Tarantino, Jim Parker and Mike Davis combined for 15 points. Grant Rickets shot the ball well from the outside. Virgil Procaccini and Matt Hoyt played well in a losing cause.

Newtown 31, Danbury 27 – Matt Mossbarger played a strong overall game and led Newtown past Danbury with a 12-point effort. Connor Gallagher and Jonah Muniz played great defensively. Chase Wurtz played a solid game @ point guard. Bubba Leblanc contributed three outstanding passes that lead to scores.

Newtown 36, Fairfield 34 – Mike Davis led the way with 10 points and played a strong game in the middle as Newtown nipped Fairfield. Bubba LeBlanc, Jonah Muniz and James Parker combined for 19 points and played well on both ends of the floor. Matt Hoyt hit a key basket and made a foul shot to help seal the win for Newtown.

Girls 5th

Newtown 17, Danbury PAL 16 – Jaclyn Daily led all scorers with eight points as Newtown nipped Danbury. Carley Ferris had four points, Danielle Shine and Kerry Scallon both had two points. Jamison Fletcher knocked down the go ahead free throw. The entire team played great offense and defense in a tough arena.

Wilton 18, Newtown 12 – Danielle Shine and Jessica Principi tallied three points each in a tough home loss to Wilton. Mary Joe Rossi, Jaclyn Daily and Kristie VosWinkel each had two points. Everyone contributed in this hard fought, physical game.

Junior Girls

Da Bears 38, Rebels 22 – Emma Fiore popped in eight points and Kelly O’Connor dished off eight assists to lead Da Bears to da win. Meredith Bridges and Liz Eiseman played well. For the Rebels, Megan Gibbons and Ashley Cirone combined for 10 points as Erin Brown and Courtney Amaral played well.

Huskies 38, Celtics 29 – Sarah Pettinelli scored 10 points and dragged down 10 rebounds to lead the Huskies to the win. Lexi Black and Suzi Wright popped in eight points apiece as Emma Kingsley had eight assists and Laurel Speed made 10 steals. For the Celtics, Cody Jackman canned nine points while Taylor Johnson and Erin Bell had strong floor games.

Hurricanes 37, Knicks 28 – Casey Rutter scored 12 points and Stephanie Perotti added eight more to lead the ‘Canes to the win. For the Knicks, Amanda Stanton poured in 14 points while Jessica Haitz and Katie Cummings added six points apiece. Deanna Tassinari played well.

Junior Boys

Rockets 42, Hawkeyes 23 – Brian Reed scored 14 points and Rob Carroll added 12 more to lead the Rockets to the win. Mike Mossbarger and Ryan Caldwell (6 rebounds) had strong floor games. For the Hawkeyes, Mason West (6 points), Mike Tenney (3 steals) and Tyler Covert (5 rebounds) played well.

Thunder 47, Wildcats 29 – Will Arndt popped in 14 points while Doug Broadbeck added seven more and Owen Swain and James Rebman tossed in six apiece to power the Thunder. Sean Ross played stellar defense, making three steals while grabbing eight rebounds. Mike Terlaga made four steals. For the ‘Cats, Derek Krewson had 10 points and Mike LoBosco added six while Matt Vavrek and Jon Hull had solid floor games.

Regulators 40, Wildcats 27 – Sam Kerr poured in 20 points to lead the Regulators to the win. Yanni Koutmos tossed in four points and Ryan Dunnigan played well. For the ‘Cats, Mike LoBosco and Derek Krewson combined for 19 points as Eric McCabe and Cole Baldino (3 assists) played well.

Eagles 36, Hornets 31 – Will Northrup popped in 16 points and dragged down nine rebounds to carry the Eagles to the win. Mike Zaccaro dished off six assists and Erik Samuelson made five steals. For the Hornets, Jake Enriquez scored 11 points and Grif Paynter added nine more. Matt Sharpe (8 assists) and Joe Pieretti (10 steals) had solid floor games.

Vipers 33, Hawks 11 – RJ Roman canned 13 points to lead the Vipers. Greg Frattaroli, Kyle Harrington and Max Nacewicz played well. For the Hawks, Patrick Sullivan made five steals and Kevin Dill grabbed five rebounds. Jack McManus also played well.

Gotham Gators 62, Hurricanes 40 – Cody Williams scored 16 points and Louis Raab had 10 rebounds to lead the Gators. Jack Kneisel dished off eight assists and Kyle McCarthy had a solid defensive effort. For the ‘Canes, Hank Helgren popped in 13 points while Sean Burson (6 assists) and Dan Morrissey (6 steals) played well.

Thrashers 38, Huskies 33 – Alex Saviano scored 14 points while John Wlasuk had 10 rebounds and eight blocks to lift the Thrashers to the win. Tyler Trumble dished off six assists and Robbie Daigle had five steals. For the Huskies, Curtis Droniak canned 14 points and Kyle Hagerman had a strong floor game.

Mercury 28, Vols 11 – Jane Sclafani scored eight points and Melissa Buccino grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Mercury to the win. Faaria Ansari had two assists and Katie McManus sparked the D. For the Vols, Lindsay Jossick had two assists.

Liberty 29, Hurricanes 23 – Cassie Ekstrom canned 12 points to lift the Liberty to the win. Emily Nacewicz and Sarah Stofko played well. For the ‘Canes, Kristiana Engler scored nine points as Lauren Meyer, Bethany Dubois and Shannon Dilorio played well.

Liberty 29, Lady Hawks 21 – Cassie Ekstrom popped in six points while Ryan Cassin, Lindsay Jagoe and Georgia Contois (8 rebounds) had strong efforts. For the Hawks, Caitlin Yakush scored eight points while Caroline Kingsley, Anna Northrup, Maureen Mallory and Sarah Hasselburger played well.

Knicks 24, Gaels 10 – Jessica Gibbons poured in 16 points to lift the Knicks to the win. Emily Maher played well on offense as Elyn Gordon grabbed seven rebounds. For the Gaels, Julie LaPerch popped in six points while Taylor Zingaro and Kelly O’Connell had strong floor games.

Huskies 24, Jaguars 23 – Kristy Papaj scored 10 points and Tess Kneisel grabbed 10 rebounds as the Huskies narrowly defeated the Jaguars. Stephanie Zamary and Ridhi Schani played well. For the Jags, Taylor Brady canned 11 points and Valentina Pena made four assists. Samantha Chanko and Madeline Fletcher played well.

6th Grade

Knicks 29, Gunners 21 – Pat Thornberg popped in 13 points, Joe Davis dished off six assists and Tom Bauer made three steals to lead the Knicks to the win. For the Gunners, Cam McCleary scored five points while Eric Fiore dragged down 11 rebounds. Thomas Primavera and Jake Feinstein played well.

Blue Devils 30, Huskies 18 – Sean Elliott scored nine points and Reid Schmidt grabbed 14 boards to lift the Blue Devils to the win. Matt Spencer and Scott Schmidt played well. For the Huskies, Brandon Marks scored nine points as Stefan Dullinger and Sam Ashey played well.

Nighthawks 40, Regulators 38 – Mike Scharfenberg scored 14 points as Dan Poeltl, Mike Burton and Robbie Hughes had strong floor games to lead the Nighthawks. For the Regulators, Brendan Cooper canned 14 points as Nicky Sajovic, Andrew Ryan and Justin Cherry played well.

Raptors 38, Regulators 17 – Justin DeVellis scored 10 points and Kevin Shpunt added eight more to lead the Raptors past the Regulators. Charlie Helgren, JP Kitzmiller and Jack Kearney had strong performances. For the Regulators, Brendan Cooper scored nine points as Nicky Sajovic, Justin Cherry and Wyatt Depuy played well.

Raptors 38, Regulators 17 – Justin DeVellis scored 10 points and Pat Riccardi dragged down 12 rebounds as the Raptors defeated the Regulators in action earlier this season. Kevin Shpunt dished off six assists and Charlie Helgren made five steals. For the Regulators, Brendan Cooper canned six points as Andrew Martinez dished off five assists and Wyatt Depuy made seven steals.

Grizzlies 33, Tar Heels 33 – Alex Roche scored 14 points as the Grizzlies knotted the Tar Heels. Christian Mather dished off seven assists and Josh Villa made five steals for the Grizz. For the Heels, Pat Mullins scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Phil Reynolds had a strong floor game.

Raptors 38, Grizzlies 30 – Pat Riccardi scored nine points and JP Kitzmiller pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Raptors to the win. Justin DeVellis and Charlie Helgren played well. For the Grizzlies, Christian Mather had eight points and Nick Madden grabbed eight rebounds. Alex Roche and Andrew Volkers played well.

Celtics 32, Cavaliers 21 – Nick Cagganello scored 18 points to lead the Celtics to the win. Mitchell Stewart, Tom Floros (5 steals) and Patrick Pierce (6 rebounds) played well. For the Cavs, Greg Larussa had six points while Matt Lindell, Steven Anderau (5 points) and Nick Marcinek played well.

Nighthawks 21, Rebels 19 – Tim Kelly canned eight points to lift the Nighthawks to the win. Jon Schwartz, Tommy Catalina and Spencer Brindley had solid floor games. For the Rebs, Alex Romeo had six points while Jack Lago, Austin Rafferty (5 steals) and Gino Scarangella (8 rebounds) played well.

Knicks 18, Notre Dame 12 – Tom Gleason canned five points to lift the Knicks to the win. Otto Kerler and Isaac Farrington were strong on defense. For the Irish, Don Sun popped in six points while Angel Santos, Cameron Eiseman and Grant Larnerd played well.

Huskies 41, Mavericks 23 – Chris Carroll poured in 26 points while Ryan Errico dragged down 10 rebounds to lead the Huskies to the win. Matt Wood (6 assists) and Nate Steinebrey played well. For the Mavs, Jack Benedict popped in 10 points and Doug Miller dished off five assists.

Killer Bees 44, Warriors 21 – Michael Parker poured in 18 points to lead the Killer Bees. Kevin Conte scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Nate Dowd made three steals. Joey Carrino added six points. For the Warriors, Nick Roche popped in 10 points and Colton Moroney (5 assists), Baxter Hankin (3 steals) and Nick Rubino (7 rebounds) played well.

Rockets 28, Thunder 12 – Connor Roche scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lift the Rockets to the win. Max Rucinski added five steals. Brian Raab tossed in four points. For the Thunder, Erik Street scored six points as Ryan King, David Corsi (4 steals) and Jeff DePinto had solid floor games.

Raptors 36, Wildcats 18 – Julian Dunn poured in 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lift the Raptors to the win. Will Dalton dished off seven assists as Luke Rustici made four steals. For the ‘Cats, Patrick Burger tossed in six points while Deegan Beuchemin made three steals and Jack Beal grabbed five boards. Colin Reilly and Daniel Romeo also played well.

Heat 34, Knicks 28 – Colton Smith poured in 18 points to lead the Heat past the Knicks. Joe Santella dished off six assists, Jon Rospenda had five steals, and Robbie McCabe grabbed eight rebounds. For the Knicks, Troy Frangione canned 15 points while Stephen Grasso grabbed nine boards. Jacob Burden (7 assists) and Darryl Silverlieb (5 steals) played well.

Nighthawks 26, Huskies 25 – Jaret DeVellis had nine points but Jeremy Doski fired in a half-court shot at the buzzer to lift the Nighthawks to the win. Will Swain, Jason Ferarri and Austin Hoffman played well. For the Huskies, Jared Brady tossed in eight points as Bryce Decker, Bobby Archiere and Ryan Szalay (6 rebounds) played well.

Midget Girls

Yellow Peeps versus Fighting Irish – Julia Scarangella, Meghan Doyle, Kate Reilly and Amy Talbot led the Peeps as Maren Brady, Casey Harkins, Colleen McCarthy and Haley Harkins powered the Irish.

Huskies versus Tigers – Amanda Solomon, Haley Ryan, Tessa Leon-Gambetta and Amanda Wikiramaye led the Huskies as Anna Buzzanca, Emma Horne, Katie Laaksonen and Alexis Tucker played well for the Tigers.

Celtics versus Purple Penguins – Sarah Annesley, Hailey Conrad, Joanna Vodola and Jessica Sharier had strong games for the Celtics as Emily Dirga, Cassidy Datin, Meghan Kelleher and Julia Wiberg played well for the Penguins.

Blue Swish versus Red Panthers – Lindsay Hoyt, Kayla Disibio and Olivia Holman led the Swish as Carlin Cohane, Kelly Merrick, Sarah Bender and Tegan Doherty powered the Panthers.

Midget Boys

Vipers versus Sharks – Gordon Walsh, Owen McInerney and James Carney paced the offense for the Vipers while RH Clark and Joey Conrad led the D. For the Sharks, Max Weber, Adam Weber, Korey Brodsky and David Grossman had strong performances.

Exterminators versus Blue Jays – Michael O’Keefe, John DelRossi, Andrew Lee, Tim Jaeger and Tyler LaCroce played well for the Exterminators while Spencer Burden and Zach Anderson powered the Jays.

Green Goblins versus Green Pythons – Brandyn Chieffo, Kevin Charnoff, Matt Elias and Austin Kasbarian led the Goblins while the Pythons were powered by Jeri Draper, Justin Dunn, Jake Oliger and Robert Hutchins.

Huskies versus Purple Bandits – Nick Samuelson, Gabe Barrett, Trane Kessler, Jimmy Craig and Tony Leonardi all had strong floor games for the Bandits.

Orange Crush versus Blizzard – Declan Sullivan, Jeremy Salaris, Josh Houle and William Gottschalck had nice games for the Crush as the Blizzard were led by Alex Gerbo, Connor Barrett, Jake Lapp and Jack Lavelle.

Vipers versus Chargers – Hunter Booker, Brian Kiley, Colin Villamana and Geoff Santore led the Vipers while Brian Kerins, Will Whitlock, Chad Azzarito and Bryan Morrissey played well for the Chargers.

Yellow Lightning versus Nighthawks – Jared Pearson, Jacob Steinebrey and Jack Palermo had strong floor games for the Lightning while Michael Doyle, Shawn McCarthy, Justin Hall and Dylan Bartlett powered the ‘Hawks.

Timberwolves versus Knicks – Andrew Ross, Mason Melillo and Austin Carfi paced the T-Wolves as Jack Moulder, Bobby Haskins, Patrick Briscoe and Noah Burhance played well for the Knicks.

Purple Bandits versus Blizzard – Austin Engler, Nick Samuelson, Mitchell Savoca and Brian Gallagher played well for the Bandits as the Blizzard received good games from Kelland Chrystie, David Anderson, Andrew Janco and Oliver Wood.

Green Goblins versus Chargers – Brandyn Chieffo, Scotty Bauer, Dylan Cortese and Kyle Haas had strong games for the Goblins as Timmy LeBlanc, Charlie Fletcher, Sean Wallace and Nick Rohrbacher paced the Chargers.

Flames versus Nighthawks – James Barry, Nick Bourgeois, Joey Conrad and Thomas Cotton had strong efforts for the Flames as the ‘Hawks received nice floor games from Matt Maturo, James Frazzetta, Matt Frazzetta and Adam Wielebinski.

Timberwolves versus Yellow Lightning – Dillon Palumbo, Thomas Gavel, Gavin Stubbs and Grant Varnum played well for the T-Wolves while Devon Peterson, Jesse Cabral, Christopher Mok and Bryce Griffin paced the Lightning.

Huskies versus Sharks – Matthew Bucci, Robert Katrinak, Tyler Dullinger and Michael Schlesinger played well for the Huskies as Jackson Cryder, Holden Turk, Gregg Trimarchi and Quinlan Hart paced the Sharks.

Knicks versus Exterminators – Liam Padilla, Patrick Briscoe, Andrew Masser and Jackson Fletcher paced the Knicks as Justin Cicarelli, Joey Duero, Matthew Gerics and Michael Liberante played well for the Exterminators.

Green Pythons versus Orange Crush – Robert Hutchins, Justin Dunn, Sam Czel and Devon Covert paced the Pythons as Jamie Cochrane, Tim VanderHave, Jacob Meenan and Bradley Capaci played well for the Crush.

Vipers versus Blue Jays – Geoff Santore, Andrew Drap, Evan Eggleston and Colin McCafferty had strong efforts for the Vipers as Matthew Kretz, Devin Luzietta, Sam Duffy and Paul Whitaker played well for the Jays.
