Indie Film Series Returning To Danbury Library
Indie Film Series Returning To Danbury Library
DANBURY â Danbury Libraryâs Independent Film Series will continue in January with the Iranian film Day Break being screened on Sunday, January 7, from 2 to 4 pm.
Day Break is based on a compilation of true stories, was shot inside Tehranâs century-old prison, and revolves around the imminent execution of Mansour, a man found guilty of murder.
In Iran, capital punishment is carried out according to Islamic law, which gives the family of the victim ownership of the offenderâs life. When the family of the victim repeatedly fails to show up on the appointed day, Mansourâs execution is postponed again and again. Stuck inside the purgatory of his own mind, he waits as time passes on without him, caught between life and death, retribution and forgiveness.
Refreshments and optional discussion will follow the film. The film series is provided free of charge and supported by the Friends of Danbury Library.
The series will continue on February 4 with a screening of Whoâs Camus Anyway? from Japan, on March 4 with a screening of the Spanish film El Bola, and then on April 1 with the Brazilian film The Middle of The World.
