Film At Library

C.H. Booth Library will continue its Independent Film Series with a screening of Familia on Tuesday, January 9, at 7:30 pm.

The film is in French, with English subtitles, and has a running time of 102 minutes. The film poses the question: Is it possible to avoid passing on to our children those traits which we despise in our parents?

Starring Sylvie Moreau as Michèle and Mylène St-Sauveur as her daughter Marguerite, the film opens with the mother and daughter moving in with Janine (Macha Grenon), who has two children and is about to find a terrible truth about her husband.

Janine already knows that Michèle is an compulsive and happy person and that her daughter Marguerite will have a bad influence on her own child, Gabrielle. But she trusts the story of Michèle when she told her that she is hiding from her manipulative husband and that she will move to California when she will have enough money.

No one is perfect, and the film — directed by Louise Archambault — shows both sides of the story.

Admission is free. Call the library, 426-4533, for additional information.
