Marked Church Anniversary
The dedication of new hymnals and pew Bibles began the order of worship at the service marking the 40th Anniversary of the church sanctuary at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 3.
The church building, 85 Mount Pleasant Road (Route 25), was consecrated in a special service on November 27, 1966. Since that time the building has been expanded by the addition of a Fellowship Hall in 1989.
The new church worship resource, the Lutheran Service Book, will be the third hymnal used by the congregation in its history. The congregationâs pastor, Reverend Gregory Wismar, serves as the chairman on the National Commission on Worship of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, which has been developing the hymnal and its supporting volume for the past decade. A number of prayers and hymn texts composed by the pastor as well as some hymnal text translations he adapted from German sources are included in the book.
The parish has been celebrating the 45th anniversary of the congregation with special activities throughout the past year. It will mark the close of the anniversary year at the New Yearâs Eve Service on December 31 at 7:30 pm in the church sanctuary.
