George Farrell

Bronze Star Recipient

George “Bing” Farrell, 92, beloved husband of Bridget Farrell of Fairfield, died December 17 at St Joseph’s Manor in Trumbull. The son of Richard and Sarah Murphy Farrell, he was born in Bridgeport, raised in Long Hill, and was a longtime resident of Fairfield.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy and her husband, David Kingsley, of Newtown, and Sharon of Fairfield; and a son, Raymond and his wife, Susan, of Watertown. Five loving grandchildren, Kevin, Kaitlin, and Meghan Farrell and Emma and Caroline Kingsley; and several nieces and nephews also survive him. Mr Farrell was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Jagoe, and his two brothers, Edward and Frances Farrell.

Mr Farrell served in the army’s 3rd Armor Division during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was retired form Dow Corning.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 21 in St Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield. Interment with military honors followed at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.

The family requests that contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice in loving memory of Mr Farrell.
