Five-Mile Hike

At Devil’s Den

WESTON — The nature Conservancy is offering a free guided five-mile hike at Devil’s Den on Sunday, January 7, from 1 to 4 pm, during the warmest part of the day. The eastern loop of the 1,756-acre nature preserve features historic ruins, Godfrey Pond, and evergreen laurel to brighten up the winter woods.

Den natural history guides Gary Lupienski and Cia Marion will be the hike leaders. They will discuss some of the human and natural history at the preserve as hikers pass a charcoal mound, the ruins of an up-and-down sawmill, and the mysterious footprint that gave The Den its name.

Participants should bring water and wear hiking shoes. Call the Den Office at 203/226-4991 weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm for reservations or directions.
