On December 7, the 24th annual lighting of the “Sandy Hook Christmas Tree” was held.

Hundreds of community members gathered to celebrate the lighting of the new Christmas tree, as well as the Sandy Hook Elementary School memorial tree, which was lit with the Sandy Hook colors of green and white.

Newtown Forest Association donated the new 2024 Christmas tree to replace the previous tree which had been removed from The Glen earlier this year. Santa Claus arrived with one of his reindeer on a fire truck much to the delight of the children who had gathered with their family members.

Whip Salon gave out complimentary cookies and hot chocolate, and candy canes were provided by Foundry Kitchen and Tavern.

Guests were encouraged to bring a non-perishable item for FAITH Food Pantry. The names of those who brought a food pantry donation were entered into a drawing to win the honor of lighting the Christmas tree.

The event was sponsored by Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity.
