Stanley Stephen Gardecki

US Air Force Veteran

Stanley Stephen Gardecki, 74, beloved husband of Mary (Mahon) Gardecki of Stratford, died December 18 at Saint Joseph’s Manor, Trumbull. Mr Gardecki was born June 30, 1933, in Nanticoke, Penn., son of Stanley and Josephine Gritsko Gardecki, and had been a longtime area resident.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three brothers, Gene Gardecki and his wife, Barbara, of Newtown, Gerald Gardecki and his wife, Jeanne, of Stratford, and Daniel Gardecki and his wife, Trudy, of Stratford; his three children, Mary Jo Gardecki of Stratford, Stanley C. Gardecki of Hampton Bays, N.Y., and Patricia Gardecki of Stratford; one sister, Dorothy Gardecki of Stratford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr Gardecki was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in Bridgeport after 43 years in the production control department.

For the past 17 years, Mr Gardecki and his wife vacationed in Aruba and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary there in October of this year. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, and skiing and since his teen years he went on a yearly hunting trip with his lifelong friends.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, December 21, at 9 am in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Monroe. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, December 20, from 4 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the ASPCA, 424 East 92nd Street, 4th Floor, New York NY 10128.
