Robert Alan Wells, Sr, 77, of Bethel, died December 16 at his home with his family in attendance, after a short battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Betty Jane Stanton Wells. He was born in New Milford, July 23, 1930, the son of Franklin and Alma Smith Wells.
Mr Wells is survived by his two sons, Godfrey S. Wells of Sandy Hook and Robert A. Wells, Jr, of Kissimmee, Fla.; two daughters, Alison Logie and her husband, Ian, of Easton and Sandra âSandiâ Cole and her husband, Douglas, of Bethel; two sisters, Kay Wells of Virginia and Judy Wells-Humphrey of Louisiana; six grandchildren, Ian Logie, II, Cari-ann Logie, Tracy Gallagher, Emmett Cole, Courtney Cole, and Tiffany Wells; three great-grandchildren, Bethany Cole, and Morgan and Jared Gallagher; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by brothers Franklin and James Wells; and a sister, Marion Hettel.
Mr Wells was an automobile mechanic, until moving to Kissimmee, Fla., where he worked at Walt Disney World for ten years, returning to this area after the death of his wife.
His passions included the New York Yankees, the New York Giants football team, and NASCAR racing. He was a life member of the Southern New York Racing Association, serving in several capacities, including ambulance driver and pit crew member of both Chick Stockwell and his son. His greatest passion, however, was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Regional Hospice for its valuable help and attendance to Mr Wellâs needs. The funeral service was held at the Bethel Funeral Home, Bethel, December 20. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
