Coast Guard Seaman Alexander H. Dahlmeyer, a 2007 graduate of Newtown High School and son of Cathy M. and Detlef H. Dahlmeyer of Sandy Hook, recently graduated from the US Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.
Coast Guard Seaman Alexander H. Dahlmeyer, a 2007 graduate of Newtown High School and son of Cathy M. and Detlef H. Dahlmeyer of Sandy Hook, recently graduated from the US Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.
During the eight-week training program, Mr Dahlmeyer completed a vigorous training curriculum consisting of academics and practical instruction on water safety and survival, military customs and courtesies, seamanship skills, first aid, firefighting, and marksmanship.
Mr Dahlmeyer and other recruits also received instruction on the Coast Guardâs core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty. Mr Dahlmeyer will join 36,000 other men and women who make up the Coast Guardâs force.
Army National Guard Private Jesse T. Cox, a 2007 graduate of Newtown High School, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Mr Cox is the son of Charles and Colleen Cox of Bristle Lane, Sandy Hook.
During his nine weeks of training, Mr Cox studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
