Kathleen Haverty

Kathleen Ann Haverty, 53, of Newtown died December 17, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Detroit February 1, 1963, the daughter of the late Constance and Patrick Haverty.

Ms Haverty was the beloved wife to James Freeman for 33 years. She was the dear mother to Meghann Freeman, Jamie Freeman, and Kaitlin Freeman, and she was the loving sister to Mary Haverty and Patricia Haverty.

She attended Mercy Catholic High School in Detroit and completed a Bachelor's of Science in biology at Indiana University. A gifted athlete, Ms Haverty began figure skating when she was just 5 years old. She traveled all over the country to train and competed alongside many Olympic champions.

A woman of many hobbies, Ms Haverty was also an avid gardener and creative seamstress. She was dedicated to her work as a protein scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim for more than ten years.

Ms Haverty will be remembered for her selflessness, compassion, sense of humor, and bravery. She touched many lives, bringing a smile to everyone's face and always putting others before herself. She cared for both her parents in their old age with patience and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Thursday, December 22, at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Regional Hospice and Palliative Care of Danbury, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury CT 06810 or regionalhospicect.org.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is serving the family.
