Business Buzz: Rodriguez Family Returns To Run Newtown Deli
You can't walk into Newtown Deli at 79 South Main Street without being enveloped in the sights and smell of great food selections, from the succulent provisions and cheeses of the deli case, to the steaming serving trays of ready-to-eat stews, soups, pasta dishes, and other daily specialties.
But you also can't walk into Newtown Deli without being surrounded by members of the Rodriguez family, who after a period of time running a new location in Brookfield, have returned to not only pick up where they left off locally, but to take the Newtown Deli to a new level of food service excellence.
Owners Miguel and Anna, along with their sons Miguel, Jr, and Luiz, are among the many family members and longtime staffers whose aim is to deliver the goods, whether it's a quick breakfast sandwich, one of 18 daily lunchtime grinders or hot dish specials - even an expanding line of catering cuisine for parties from a dozen to several hundred.
The deli is open seven days a week; Monday through Friday from 6 am to 5 pm, Saturdays from 7 am to 4 pm, and Sundays from 8 am to 3 pm, with plenty of time to pick up tailgate or game day party heroes, salads, snacks, desserts, and hot trays of wings, meatballs, pastas, stews, and ethnic specialties.
At both the Newtown and Brookfield location at 782 Federal Road, Miguel Rodriguez prides himself on providing filling and tasty portions for the money, with most lunch specials running between $5 and $10. Newtown Deli's grab-and-go dinners and bountiful homemade salads are similarly priced, topping out between $7 and $15.
His catering operation can accommodate virtually any taste and budget, with anything on his existing lunch or dinner menu available for larger parties. And he claims to be among few caterers in the area who will work with clients to prepare catering portions of clients special or personal family recipes.
Any catering order can also be delivered and set up buffet style to make things easier for his many clients throughout the region. And in the spring, the Rodriguez family is promising to appease any burger fix with a soon to open burger bar, offering a variety of burgers, dogs, cheeses, and other toppings and ingredients.
Newtown Deli also offers a wide selection of desserts, Italian and other ethnic condiments and sides, pastas, oils, and other products packed to go.
