The Holiday Festival’s Cultural Entertainment and Confections had multiple live performances and delectable treats for attendees to enjoy throughout the morning of December 5. The new event was sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank and was set up in Edmond Town Hall’s Alexandria Room.

The live entertainment schedule included Western Connecticut State University Steel Band playing Caribbean/Calypso, Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance, and Austrian Boys Band playing traditional Austrian-German style and alpine-American rock music.

It also featured The Alpenland Tanzer Dancers performing alpine Schuhplattein dances, Phoenix Performing Arts doing Chinese classical and folk dance, and Fiesta del Norte, a Mexican Mariachi band performing traditional folk and popular music of Mexico.

Confections and beverages were provided by Blue Jay Orchards, Church Hill Village, Dunkin’ Donuts of Queen Street, Maplewood at Stony Hill, Newtown Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, UK Gourmet, and Uncle Matt’s Bakery and Café.

People were invited to munch and sip on their goodies at a table, which had different countries’ flags placed as the centerpieces. There were also decorative trees on stage that were adorned with a variety of flags.
