DANBURY — Get ready to deck the halls this holiday weekend when Musicals at Richter, Connecticut’s longest running outdoor theater, moves inside to The Palace Danbury with an enchanting version of “Scrooge!”  The Musical.

“Scrooge!” the Musical closely follows the plot of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, in which the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a profound experience of redemption and learns the true meaning of Christmas over the course of a Christmas Eve night. Scrooge is visited by the doomed ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley who, covered in chains, explains to Scrooge that eternal suffering is directly related to greed and bad behavior while on earth, and he warns Scrooge that unless he changes his ways he too will also suffer the same fate.

Marley tells him that three spirits would visit him that night: the spirit of Christmas Past, the spirit of Christmas Present, and the spirit of Christmas Yet-To-Come. Through reflection and revelation, Scrooge wakes up on Christmas Day a changed man.

Performances are Friday, December 19, at 8 pm; Saturday, December 20, at 3 and 8 pm; and Sunday, December 21, at 3 pm.  Reserved seating is $25 for adults, and $15 ages 2 and under)

Tickets may be purchased online at thepalacedanbury.com, by phone at 203-794-9944 (1-5 pm daily), or at the box office starting one hour before curtain.

The production, which is based on the 1970s movie starring Albert Finney, includes the songs “Father Christmas,” “I Like Life,” “December the Twenty-Fifth” and “Thank You Very Much.” The beautifully staged show features elegant period costumes, inspiring live music, and a cast of local talent.

The Palace Danbury is at 165 Main Street, in downtown Danbury.  Free parking is readily available for theater patrons in The Palace parking lot on Keeler Street.

Jack Armstrong and Jonathan Sweeney are among the Newtown residents featured in the Musicals at Richter production of Scrooge! The Musical, which will have four performances this weekend at The Palace Danbury.
