The Morons Who Stole Christmas
The Morons Who Stole Christmas
To the Editor:
Today we are heartbroken and disgusted. The only people who will read this letter and care about what happened donât do the kinds of things that happened on our street last night, December 7.
Mailboxes were uprooted, post lights were ousted from concrete bases, fences damaged. But the worst of all happened to a couple who for years have delighted our neighbors with highly creative and labor intensive Halloween and Christmas decorations. All of it was destroyed last night for what reasons most decent people canât understand.
The individual(s) who wreaked this havoc could care less and will just move on to new territory to destroy. This isnât toilet paper and shave cream â it was just outright criminal behavior, but not serious enough apparently to have police show up to document the damage. The culprit(s) didnât do this in the middle of the night while we are all sleeping â they brazenly went right up on porches and lawns to do their dirty work early in the evening. It is an unsettling idea that these cretins may actually live amongst us and will continue to find other property to steal or vandalize. Where will the moron(s) strike next?
Just recently I saw on the news an older gentleman in another state, was scared or angry upon seeing thieves robbing a neighborâs home and proceeding towards his home next. He took a shotgun while on a 911 call to police, and shot and killed those thieves. A jury acquitted him, perhaps because they were fed up with seeing criminals taking advantage of helpless people. If only that would scare straight this type of behavior, but it most likely wonât.
Obviously whoever is responsible never learned respect for the property of others from their parents. Perhaps us taxpayers can throw even more money towards the $38.8 million we have already been asked to cough up, to provide classes in respect for property the morons donât own. Sorry, morons â that money will instead have to go to repair the damage and replace stolen items you felt free to vandalize and steal in the dark of night. Bah, morons, and smile youâre on candid security cameras coming to our homes soon.
