The American System Is Not Corrupt
The American System Is Not Corrupt
To the Editor:
I promised myself that I would let these issues rest, but after reading Alison Berkâs race-baiting, anti-American rant [âLetâs Fix This Country Ourselves,â 12/12/08], I felt I must respond.
Poor quality of schools caused by racism? Billions of dollars poured into failing public schools over the past 40 years is not racism, it is a waste of money. Failing to allow parents an opportunity to better their childrenâs education because of political agendas is obscene. In January when municipalities publish the lists of highest paid employees you will be sure to see quite a few educators listed.
What you describe as democracy is socialism. A system that is a proven failure over 100 years of history in Europe and Russia. Playing the race card by stating capitalism is slanted towards any race is dishonest. Capitalism affords everyone equal opportunity.
Can a woman choose to give birth and then two days later choose to kill her baby? No, because that is murder. What is the difference between that and an abortion before the birth. None. And in case you did not know it, men are required to share the responsibility, both legally and financially, for any child.
What would you do Ms Berk if you had an avowed enemy that had sworn to kill you and your family and publicly stated they would do everything they could to accomplish that goal. If you would talk to them, that is not the thought process of a mature person. It is the thought process of a fool.
No one was misled on the war in Iraq. The Democrats in both the House and Senate were fully briefed on the information that was available and signed on. Later, like cowards, they ran for cover when things went wrong.
As far as apologizing, ask the 25 million Iraqis who are now free if anyone should apologize to Saddam Hussein.
The question of condoning and approving the abnormal behavior of certain people is not an issue of freedom. It is an issue about the need for society to draw a moral line in the sand to ensure the stability and survival of that society. Whatâs next? Allowing pedophiles to marry children or allowing necrophiliacs to marry a corpse in the interest of freedom?
The American system is not corrupt. It is the envy of the world with people literally dying to get here. It is the most free nation on earth that affords everyone an equal opportunity to prosper. It is unfortunately affected by those who have a distorted view of the world and whose only interest is the advancement of their political party.
