No Help From HUSKY
No Help From HUSKY
To the Editor:
Every American citizen that I have talked to is completely disgusted, and itâs not due to the obvious economy; itâs due to my 19-year-old daughterâs situation.
My daughter is now five months pregnant with no help from HUSKY. She applied, and for some reason was denied. No explanation just, âYou may be accepted in 60 days.â She called her caseworker numerous times leaving messages on this personâs machine with phone numbers and times to call back. No response. As her mother, I even called and informed her caseworker that if she canât at least show the respect of returning my daughterâs messages that I will find someone who will listen and hopefully help out; that was a week ago.
She is supposed to go for an ultrasound and now is putting it off hoping that a miracle will happen and someone can help her out. Whatâs sad is everyone Iâve talked to has one comment, âSheâs an American they wonât help her.â She is not looking to go on welfare, just assistance with her pregnancy. What kind of program is HUSKY if a young woman who works part-time at the dollar store and her new husband just started work at a grocery store canât get assistance, let alone a response to why they were denied. I thought this program was to help, instead she is delaying on medical attention she needs and who knows what else sheâll put off from here on. I hope that someone can step forward, I donât know where to go from here.
