*MARC HUBERMAN has four performances left before the end of the year, including a return this weekend and next to Donna Marie’s Cucina Italiana in Georgetown. Marc will be there this Friday and next, December 19 and 26.

Then on December 27 he will be over at Southwest Café, which is at 109 Danbury Road in Ridgefield, with special guest percussionist Edward James Murphy.

His final show of the year will be as part of the Danbury First Night Celebration. Details about that are still being ironed out, but should be available by this time next week.

*Here’s an ambitious undertaking: THE PAUL GREEN SCHOOL OF ROCK ALL-STARS will be heading out on a tenth anniversary tour this holiday season, mounting a 14-city, 17-show tour through the Northeast and Midwest between Christmas and New Year’s. Obviously this means multiple shows on the same day… and there is more than one School of Rock All-Star group on the road. Think Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but younger.

The Paul Green School of Rock is the original performance-based rock music school in the country for kids 7-18. Founded on Green’s original program of weekly, individualized instruction sessions augmented by rigorous group rehearsals, the Paul Green School of Rock effectively motivates students to practice — driven by frequent performances where they discover that hard work leads directly to applause, the most beautiful music of all. In 2009, the 45 School of Rock branches around the country will play 1500 shows in front of 400,000 people, at established venues including The Whiskey, BB King’s and Carnegie Hall and at festivals such as Lollapalooza, and plenty of others.

Before that a 10th anniversary tour will be launched, as mentioned above, and will include a stop on Thursday, December 30, at The Black Bear Saloon in South Norwalk. I can’t locate ticket prices, but you can always call the Saloon directly at 203-229-0711.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road, with more details about what’s coming up in the area for New Year’s Eve.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
