Leo Karpie, 82, of Shelton, devoted husband of 60 years of Joyce Kryvonis Karpie, died December 11. Survivors include daughter Karen Karpie and her husband, Kevin Murphy, of Newtown and their children, Katie and Dan Murphy.

Mr Karpie served as a sergeant in the US Army during World War II, and was a Bridgeport firefighter until his retirement after 30 years of service. He was blessed with years of love, happiness, joy, curiosity, kindness, compassion, delight, laughter, fun, and golf. Family and friends are thankful for all the great times they had with him.

Funeral services were held at Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, Bridgeport, December 15, followed by burial in St John’s Cemetery, Monroe.

The family requests those who wish to do so, to do something nice for someone to celebrate Mr Karpie’s life.
