Charles Geanuracos, 89, of Newtown, beloved husband of Gilda Tucci Geanuracos, died December 16, in West Haven Veterans Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to Louis and Anna Koutrakos Geanuracos, he was a lifelong area resident.
 Mr Geanuracos was a World War II Army Infantry veteran, participating in the Normandy Beach invasion for which he was decorated with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He belonged to the Port Five Club and VFW #308 in Newtown.
He was a retired self-employed painting contractor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Charles Geanuracos of Hollywood, Fla., Louis Geanuracos and Thomas Geanuracos of New Port Richie, Fla., and George Geanuracos of Newtown; and Maria Barna of Danbury and Charlotte Thompson of Newtown; one brother, James Geanuracos; two sisters, Theresa Nardi and Stella Nardi; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral Saturday, December 20, at 9:30 am, in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 am in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Bridgeport. Interment with military honors will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, December 19, from 4 to 8 pm. Trisagion service will be at 6 pm.
