Special Event For Childrenâs Book Award Month
DANBURY â The junior department at Danbury Library has a special event planned in conjunction with the voting period for the 2001 Nutmeg Childrenâs Book Award.
On January 25, Michael Delaney will make a special visit to the library. Cchildren will be able to meet the author and hear how he developed the ideas for his book Deep Doo Doo, which is one of the ten books nominated for the 2001 award. The âMeet-The-Authorâ event will begin at 6 pm.
The program is free and open to all area fourth through sixth grade students, although the library is requesting reservations for the event. The Winner of the 2001 Nutmeg Childrenâs Book Award will be announced in February. During January, children across Connecticut in grades 4 through 6 are being encouraged to read and vote for their favorites from a list of ten nominees.
Over 16,000 votes were received last year during the election period. Libraries across the state have additional details including the names of this yearâs nominees and voting information.
