Children’s Book Award Month

DANBURY — The junior department at Danbury Library has two events planned during January to coincide with the voting period for the 2001 Nutmeg Children’s Book Award.

First, the Jr Services Department will host a special pizza night for area fourth through sixth graders on Wednesday, January 10, from 5:30 to 7 pm. Children are invited to enjoy pizza with their friends while listening to and discussing excerpts from one of the Nutmeg nominees, Deep Doo Doo by Michael Delaney.

On Jan 25, Mr Delaney will make a special visit to the library. That evening, children will be able to meet the author and hear how he developed the ideas for his book. The “Meet-The-Author” event will begin at 6 pm.

Both programs are being offered free of charge. Registration for the pizza party is required by Monday, Jan 8. For the “Meet-The-author” program the library is requesting reservations no later than the morning of the event.
