Bradley Airport Issues Holiday Tips

WINDSOR LOCKS — The holiday week is here, and Bradley International Airport anticipates an increase in demand for long-term parking. To avoid delays and reduce inconveniences, the airport is offering some recommendations.

Travelers planning to leave their cars in long-term parking lots should arrive at the airport two hours prior to the departure of their flight.

To receive updates on lot closures, travelers should call the airport’s parking operator, APCOA-Standard, at 860/627-3555.

Variable signage posted in front of the airport will offer travelers timely information on lot closures.

Information on Airport parking will be broadcast on 530 AM.

In the event of a lot closure, a map directing travelers to off-site parking alternatives will be posted in front of the lots and a map of their locations.

Travelers flying from Bradley at peak air-travel times should consider using other forms of ground transportation, such as getting a ride from a friend or using a shuttle service.

While the new parking garage appears completed, it will not be opened until May 2001. Travelers will not be able to enter the facility.

Short-term parking is meant for friends and family providing transportation for air travelers and should not be used as an alternative to long-term parking.

During inclement weather, travelers should call their airlines for information on delays or cancellations.

Bradley has a total of 5,146 parking spaces, and off-site facilities have a total of 14,000 spaces. To avoid inconveniences, the Airport suggests travelers arrive early and stay as informed about parking as they would about their departing flights.

With more than 300 daily nonstop flights to 4 destinations Bradley International Airport has become one of the fastest-growing airports in the nation and is expected to attract more than 7 million passengers in 2000.
