Tool Theft
Sometime during the night of December 2, or the early morning hours of December 3, someone entered an unspecified vehicle parked at a Bridge End Farm Lane residence in Sandy Hook and stole some hand tools from the vehicle, police report.
Bridge End Farm Lane extends from Walnut Tree Hill Road. Police are investigating the case of sixth-degree larceny and ask anyone with information on the crime to contact them at 203-426-5841, or at the police tip line at 203-270-8888.
Nine Charges
Police report that after making a motor vehicle stop on Hawleyville Road, near Covered Bridge Road, at about 8:33 am on December 10, they investigated and charged a man with nine offenses, including four drug violations.
Police said they stopped motorist Brandon Savo, 21, of Brookfield because Savo was not wearing a seatbelt and he did not have a front marker plate on the vehicle that he was driving.
A search of the vehicle turned up some drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Police charged Savo with failure to wear a seatbelt, driving a vehicle without a front marker plate, failure to carry a driverâs license, failure to have automotive insurance, driving a vehicle with a suspended registration, possession of narcotics, failure to keep narcotics in their original prescription container, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following arrest processing, police released Savo on $60 bail for arraignment on January 5 in Danbury Superior Court.
Bethel Man
While on patrol about 6:38 pm on December 6, police said they spotted motorist Donald Olson, 37, of Bethel driving an vehicle near 45 Main Street which had an obscured marker plate, so they stopped Olson to investigate.
That probe resulted in police charging Olson with driving with an obscured marker plate, driving with a suspended license, and driving with a suspended vehicle registration, according to police.
Police released Olson on a written promise to appear December 21 in Danbury Superior Court.
Hattertown Road
Motorist Juan Rodriguez, 37, of Bethel was driving a 2006 Nissan Titan pickup truck southward on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Castle Meadow Road, about 5:05 pm December 9, when while negotiating a curve on the road, the vehicle slid on snowy pavement, causing an unspecified collision, according to police.
The impact damaged the left rear side of the truck, police said. Rodriguez was not injured. Police said they gave him a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Sedan Vs Truck
About 5:08 pm December 10, motorist Paul Carpenter, 46, of 19 Parmalee Hill Road was driving a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup truck southward on South Main Street, near Mile Hill Road, when he stopped for traffic conditions, police report.
At that time, motorist Kirsten Lampart, 18, of Seymour, who was driving a 1999 Nissan Sentra sedan southward behind the truck, briefly looked away and did not see that that truck was stopping, according to police.
The Nissan then struck the rear end of the Ford, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they gave Lampart a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Pearl Street
About 11:17 am on December 10, motorist Linda Day, 58, of 149 Lakeview Terrace was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan near 9 Pearl Street, when she thought that her cellphone fell out of her pocket and onto the vehicleâs floor, police said.
Day then looked downward and the sedan went across the roadâs opposite lane, struck some curbing and then traveled down a slope, striking several trees, police said.
Day was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Kia On Ice
About 12:41 am December 14, motorist Ebony Rivera, 26, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., was driving a 2003 Kia Sorrento SUV in the center lane of three lanes on the Exit 11 on-ramp of Interstate 84, when she lost control of the auto on the icy pavement, state police said.
The Kia then struck some guardrails along the right road shoulder, but Rivera was not injured, state police said. State police issued her a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Tree On Road
State police report that motorist Elizabeth Rowland, 23, of Oxford was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck westward on Interstate 84, west of the Rochambeau Bridge, about 8:19 pm December 12, when a Christmas tree that was being carried atop a vehicle in front of the Ford fell onto the highway.
The Ford than struck the tree on the road, state police said. The vehicle from which the tree fell continuing traveling westward after it had lost the tree, according to state police. That vehicle may have been a gray Honda SUV.
State police did not locate the vehicle from which the tree fell. Rowland was not injured. No enforcement was taken.
Falling Ice/Snow
State police report that a 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML-320 SUV driven by Dorothy Han, 49, of Redding was struck by a piece of ice/snow that fell from an unknown passing truck on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 11 about 2:08 pm December 12.
The impact damaged the SUVâs windshield, state police said. Han was not injured. State police took no enforcement.
Highway Collision
About 9:09 pm December 12, motorist Kenton Lord, 18, of 35 Cherry Street was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry sedan westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, when an unknown nearby westbound vehicle drifted toward the Toyota, resulting in Lord veering to the right to avoid a collision, state police said.
Lord, however, lost control of the auto and struck some guardrailing, state police said. The impact caused heavy damage to the Toyota. Lord drove the damaged vehicle to the commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road, from which it was towed, according to state police.
Neither Lord, nor two passengers, were injured, according to state police. State police had no description of the offending vehicle, which was not located.
Icy Roadway
Motorist Yessica Urena-Almonte, 19, of Danbury was driving a 1997 Geo Prizm sedan northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Homestead Lane about 11:43 pm December 13, when while negotiating a left curve on the road, the vehicle slid on the icy pavement and struck a snowbank along the right road shoulder, police report.
Urena-Almonte was not injured. Police said they charged her with making a restricted turn and with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration. Police released her on $100 bail for a January 5 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Rollover Crash
Police report a one-vehicle accident that occurred during black ice conditions about 11 pm December 13.
Motorist Nicholas Hovan, 27, of Danbury was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee westward on Mt Pleasant Road, near the Bethel town line, when while negotiating a curve to the left and climbing an incline, he lost control of the vehicle on the icy pavement, police said.
The Jeep went off the right road shoulder, entered a patch of slush and then climbed an embankment, causing it to roll over onto its roof, police said.
Hovan was wearing a seatbelt and was unable to free himself, after which he was extricated by Hawleyville firefighters and ambulance staffers, police said. Ambulance volunteers transported Hovan to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police said they verbally warned Hovan for traveling unreasonably fast.
Icy Conditions
Police report that motorist Mary Ledan, 18, of Bethel was driving a 2003 Saturn SL-3 sedan westward on Dodgingtown Road, near Shelley Road, about 12:22 am December 14, when she encountered some icy pavement that caused the sedan to slide and go off the right road shoulder and strike a bank. Ledan was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Three Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Christopher Prodoti, 30, of Bethel at about 6:41 am December 15 on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Dodgingtown Road, to investigate.
Police said they charged Prodoti with traveling too fast, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without automotive insurance.
Police released Prodoti on $100 bail for an upcoming appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
About 12:22 am December 16, police received a call reporting that a motorist was driving erratically in the area of Mt Pleasant Road and Tory Lane.
Police said they located the vehicle in question on Main Street and stopped it to investigate, after which they charged motorist Kelly Okrepkie, 31, of Trumbull with driving under the influence.
Following processing, police released Okrepkie on $100 bail for a January 5 court appearance.
Window Damage
Police report that sometime between 3:30 pm on December 10, and 8:30 am on December 11, someone shot BBs from a BB-gun to damage some windows at Kingâs Breakfast and Lunch Restaurant at 271 South Main Street. Police are investigating the case of second-degree criminal mischief and ask anyone with information on the crime to contact Officer John McCluskey at 203-426-5841.
Into A Ditch
Police said Jonathan Kochiss, 22, of Woodbury was driving a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup truck southward near 99 South Main Street about 6 am December 13, when the truck traveled across a the northbound lane and entered a ditch along the northbound road shoulder.
Kochiss was not injured. Police said Kochiss told them that he had fallen asleep at the wheel because he had been awake for a long period.
Police charged Kochiss with reckless driving and released him on a written promise to appear in court on December 23.
Scion Vs Toyota
About 3 pm December 11, motorist Oscar Quiroz, 16, of 34 Forest Drive, who was driving a 2002 Toyota 4-Runner SUV eastward near 28 Church Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Nathaniel Durgin, 31, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Scion hatchback, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Durgin an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Icy Conditions
Police report a two-vehicle collision during icy conditions about noon December 13 near 184 Pleasant Road.
The accident involved motorist Christine McCormick, 56, of 105 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, and motorist Erica Keane, 29, of 8 Underhill Road, who was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue SUV, police said.
Both Erica Keane and Nissan passenger Christopher Keane, 30, of the same address, were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said. Police said they gave McCormick a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Mower Missing
Sometime between 3 pm on November 28, and 11 pm on December 4, someone broke a lock off a rear shed at a Mt Pleasant Road address near the Bethel town line and then stole an orange-colored lawnmower which has a 22-inch-long cutting blade, according to police. Police ask anyone with information on the sixth-degree larceny to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station.
Mailbox Mischief
According to a police report, sometime between 11:30 pm on December 11, and 11:15 am on December 12, someone pulled a curbside residential mailbox out of the ground at a Marlin Road home. Officer John McCluskey asks anyone with knowledge of the third-degree criminal mischief to contact him at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Raised Crosswalk
About 10:30 am on December 6, motorist Melissa Sorrentino, 35, of 4 Surrey Trail, who was driving a 2006 Toyota 4-Runner SUV southward on Queen Street near Newtown Middle School, slowed the vehicle before driving over a raised crosswalk there, police said.
Southbound motorist Caryl Timmel, 60, of 67 Riverside Road, who was driving a 1997 BMW 318-TI coupe behind the Toyota, then braked to avoid colliding with the Toyota, police said. The BMW then turned to the right, went off the road and struck a street sign, after which the BMW struck the Toyota from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said Timmel received an infraction for following too closely.
Jeep Vs Ford
A two-vehicle collision occurred on Kay Lane, near its intersection with South Main Street, about 2:11 pm December 12, police said.
Motorist Brittany Williams, 19, of 10 Washbrook Road was driving a 1998 Ford Windstar minivan eastward on Kay Lane, police said. At that time, motorist Wayne Oliver, 62, of 4 Rowledge Pond Road, who was driving a 2005 Jeep Wrangler, was exiting a commercial driveway and entering Kay Lane, resulting in a collision with the Ford, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Oliver a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Tractor-Trailer
Motorist Janice Bernard, 64, of 1 Settlers Lane, who was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata sedan southward on South Main Street about 12:11 pm December 14, stopped and was waiting for northbound traffic to clear so that she could make a left turn into the driveway at 151 South Main Street, police said.
Southbound tractor-trailer truck driver Joshua McSherry, 23, of Washington, Conn., then attempted to pass the stopped Hyundai on the right, but the truckâs trailer knocked the Hyundaiâs right exterior rear-view mirror off the sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued McSherry a written warning for illegal passing on the right.
GMC Hits Lexus
About 1:50 pm December 12, a 2007 Lexus IS-250 sedan driven by Diane Larsen, 23, of Monroe stopped at a stop sign on Currituck Road at its intersection with Obtuse Road, police said.
A 2002 GMC Yukon SUV driven Michael Garrity, 55, of 8 Stony Brook Road, then stopped behind the Lexus, police said.
The GMC then struck the rear end of the Lexus, according to police. There were no injuries. Police issued Garrity a written warning for following too closely.

Icy Roadway
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Mile Hill Road during icy road conditions about noon on December 13.
 Due to hazardous driving conditions, motorist Delphine Geraci, 38, of Shelton, who was driving a 2004 Honda Element, pulled off the roadway, after which the Honda was struck by motorist Michael Bialobzeski, 19, of Enfield, who was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
