*The final gig for the year for THE ADULTS will be at Proud Mary’s, the lounge at The Inn at Newtown, tonight (Friday, December 18), starting at 8.

*SPEAKERCAB will be headlining tonight at The Blue Z Coffee House over on South Main Street, and then RIVERHILL SAXOPHONE QUARTET will be providing the music tomorrow night. Tonight’s show starts at 7, and tomorrow will be 7:30.

*Over at Mocha in Sandy Hook, longtime customer KRISTIN RYAN will make her first musical appearance at the Glen Road coffee shop.

The singer-songwriter offers “sweet and contemplative” music, and will start her set tonight at 8.

Tomorrow night will feature the music of FREE THOUGHT, acoustic dui Ken and Kate Moncuse, who play folk-rock original songs (think Springsteen, Ray Davies, Carole King, et al) and are promoting their new CD, In Her Eyes. That show is also scheduled for 8 to 10 pm.

*Georgetown Saloon dropped a note my way last week with an update of their upcoming schedule. As mentioned in last week’s column, it’ll be THE DOUG WAHLBERG BAND opening the new year with a show on January 1 starting around 9:15.

Additional shows in January include JOHNNY BOOTS on the 2nd, PINK BABY on Friday, January 8; SOUL CIRCUS the following night; THE WALTER LEWIS TRIO on Friday, January 15; SISTER FUNK, “the nation’s hottest all-female band,” they claim, on the 16th; THE BERNADETTES on Friday, January 22; OLD SCHOOL REVUE on January 23; BLUES PATROL on January 29; and SMOKEHOUSE on Saturday the 30th.

*Sounds — understandably! — like the booking agent at Toad’s Place was less than pleased on Tuesday to learn that TREY SONGZ had to cancel again, and this time it was for a show about 36 hours away.

“We’re sorry to inform you that Trey Songz canceled again on us. His agent informed us that he doesn’t want to interfere with his 30 city tour coming this March. Please get a refund at point of purchase,” said an email from The Toad that came in Tuesday afternoon.

So if you were one of the (un)lucky few to still be holding on to Trey Songz tickets at this point and haven’t already heard, Toad’s Place is not only offering full refunds on those tickets but is also offering a complimentary ticket to the January 17 RAKIM show, which itself was rescheduled from November 17. Tickets from that show will also be honored that night.

*A series of concerts has been announced for The Dome at Oakdale, the original wooden dome that was built in 1972 as the Oakdale stage in Wallingford. Live Nation Connecticut announced the series on December 11.

The Dome at Oakdale will be a series of intimate concerts under the dome that replaced the canvas tent that formed the roof of the original “theatre in the round” Oakdale back in 1955. Further renovations in 1996 created the 4,600 seat theatre with the proscenium stage, which turned the dome into a large multi purpose room for conventions, as well as the concessions area for the main event space. This new series of shows would be the first concerts held in the legendary structure in nearly a decade.

Most shows will be general admission, including the first to be offered: KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, with The Devil Wears Prada opening, on Sunday, March 21. Tickets are $29.50 and will be on sale at 10 am this morning though LiveNation.com or by calling the Oakdale’s box office at 877-598-8689.

More dates in The Dome series will be announced after the first of the year.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
