The Best Ever
The Best Ever
To the Editor:
The 2009 football season turned out to be one of the best ever by a youth football program from Newtown, playing 14 games and going into a fifth month of football ending with a weeklong trip to Florida to face the nationâs best. It couldnât have happened without the support of the Newtown community.
On behalf of the 7th Grade Newtown Football team, we would like to thank the below businesses and individuals for their generosity and support: Newtown Youth Football & Cheer, Bagel Delight, Newtown Youth Academy, Jeff Tolson and flag football, Andreaâs Bakery, Taunton Press, Dr Joshua E. Baum, Jack Sphunt, the Grimes Family, Larry Miller, TC Contracting, Claris Construction, Newtown Recycling Service, Hometown Publishing, Carminuccioâs Pizza, Newtown Roll-off Services, Hot Shots Grille Restaurant & Tap Room, Rivalry Sports Pub, Newtown OTT Wrestling, and Drs Dudley, Condon and Golisano, Paninoâs Pizza & Pasta, and all of the neighborhoods that made donations to the players.
Also, thanks to Andy Hutchison of The Newtown Bee for his continuous coverage of not just the seventh grade team, but all of Newtown Youth Football and Cheer. The Paproskiâs Farm in Newtown, where the community came together for a wonderful night with a great bonfire and pep rally with over 300 people in attendance.
We would also like to thank the local businesses that allowed our players to stand outside for donations: Katherineâs Kitchen, Newtown Deli, My Place, and Yankee Liquor. Also thanks to the individuals and businesses I may have missed as there were many supporters behind the scenes.
A special thanks to Laura Roche and Mara Street for leading our fundraising and also to Laura Pierson and Larry Petershack for tutoring our players each day in the conference room.
