Student's 'Park And Bark' Entry Wins Contest
Studentâs âPark And Barkâ Entry Wins Contest
As the new Dog Park Committee members review ways to implement a park for pets in Newtown, students have been contemplating a name.
This week after collecting 198 entries from the 5,000 flyers she circulated throughout the townâs schools, Assistant Director of Recreation RoseAnn Reggiano congratulated the one student whose idea became the committeeâs favorite. Chloe Freemanâs suggestion of Park and Bark is the contest winner.
This week she and her sister Zoe and St Bernard puppy Moose and Bernese mountain dog Shona arrived at the Parks & Recreation Department office, eager to all be in a photo. Chloe held her winning entry form in hand as she, her sister, and their dogs posed for a picture.
The committee members had deliberated over the proposed names until they made their choice. They learned the studentâs name after their selection. In coming months the committee will meet to discuss how best to create and operate a dog park that will most likely be located near the new dog poundâs proposed site at the bottom of Trades Lane past Reed Intermediate School.
