Lawmakers Forgo Fix Of Campaign Law

HARTFORD (AP) — Connecticut lawmakers are not sure whether they will attempt to fix a campaign finance reform law that is poised to help fund 2010 state campaigns.

The Democratic-controlled General Assembly met in special session on Tuesday, but did not vote on Governor M. Jodi Rell’s proposal aimed at making the law more amenable to a federal judge who struck it down as unconstitutional.

The campaign finance law provides public funding to legislative and gubernatorial candidates who observe certain restrictions.

Lawmakers also did not act on the governor’s plan to address the state budget deficit.
