Hospital Reminds Patients, Visitors About Ongoing Improvement Projects
NEW MILFORD â New Milford Hospital has several construction projects underway and planned throughout the winter season to improve its facilities in 2010. Â
During the week of December 14, construction teams will begin to operate a crane from the upper parking lot of the Emergency Department in preparation for the new building that will house a permanent MRI. Ambulance and community access to the Emergency Department will remain the same.
According to Brenda Warren, BSN, MHA, director, plant operations, construction will also begin to upgrade the hospitalâs main entrance and corridor (known as Main Street) on December 30. With completion expected in late winter, the project will create a more open entry and ambassador/reception space, along with improved lighting, carpeting, and signage to provide a more welcoming environment and greater convenience in visiting the facility.
A temporary entrance near the main entrance will accommodate pedestrian traffic to access outpatient services upon entering the building. All services will continue uninterrupted; however, patients and visitors should consider allowing an extra 15 minutes to reach their hospital destination during construction. Valet parking continues to be available to assist patients and visitors as needed.
Additionally, construction teams will begin initial steps to prepare for roof replacement at the hospital, with work beginning in early January.Â
âWe expect that construction vehicles, personnel, and equipment for these projects will bring some external congestion and noise, and are working proactively to minimize any concerns throughout the duration,â said Ms Warren. âWe want to be sure that patients and visitors are aware of these efforts before they visit the hospital to ensure their safety and convenience.â
