Hockey players, and winter enthusiasts in general, laced up the skates and cashed in on the recent cold snap to carve into the Hawley Pond ice at Ram Pasture, on December 16.

Among those on hand were the father-son tandems of Carl and Calvin Savoia and Al and Alex Chau, and a small group, including Joey Santella, Jared Pearson, and John Rospenda.

With expected snow to be followed by rain and warmer temperatures more days to skate may not be on tap for a while. Last year, the pond froze and thawed several times throughout the winter weeks.
