Marijuana Arrest
Marijuana Arrest
Police report they received a complaint about marijuana use from a person at a Miya Lane address at about 9:17 am on December 11, so they investigated.
Police said they consequently charged a boy under age 18 with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police released the boy on a written promise to appear on December 20 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Because the person arrested is under age 18, his/her identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.
DUI Incident
Police report that they observed motorist Stacey Anne Lloyd, 45, of 24 Pepperidge Road driving a vehicle eastward on Mt Pleasant Road about 1:30 am December 12, which was crossing over the roadâs center line and shoulder line.
Police said they stopped Lloyd near 45 Main Street to investigate, after which they gave her field sobriety tests. Police said they charged Lloyd with driving under the influence, making a restricted turn, and failure to drive to the right on a curve.
After processing, police released Lloyd on $100 bail for a December 23 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.
Bridgeport Man
Police report that at about 12:48 am on December 11, they spotted motorist Jonathan Sanchez, 25, of Bridgeport driving southward on Botsford Hill Road, after which he turned left onto Swamp Road without using a directional signal to make that turn.
Police said they stopped Sanchez to investigate, after which they charged him with failure to signal for a turn and with driving with a suspended license.
Sanchez was released on a written promise to appear in court on January 4.
Christmas Tree
Police are investigating an incident in which a Christmas tree was stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street.
At about 8:15 pm on December 11, someone stole a Christmas tree that was positioned in the bed of a pickup truck that was parked near the CVS Pharmacy there, according to police.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of who stole the Christmas tree to contact Officer Liam Seabrook at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Key Awaits Owner
Police said this week that they are continuing trying to find the owner of an automotive key that was found last month.
On November 1, a Walt Disney-brand key chain was found near the soccer fields at Fairfield Hills. The key chain has an inscription with the words âI Love Mom.â The key chain holds a single key to a Ford motor vehicle. The chain also has an electronic vehicle door opener attached. The owner may claim the item at the police station at 3 Main Street.
Honda Vs Chevrolet
A two-vehicle collision occurred near the Blue Colony Diner at 66 Church Hill Road at about 6:13 pm December 9, police report.
A motorist, whom police identified only as Mr/Ms Komornik, 51, of Southbury was driving a 2006 Chevrolet sedan eastward on Church Hill Road in the right-turn-only lane for the Exit 10 on-ramp for eastbound Interstate 84.
At that time, a westbound 2009 Honda station wagon driven by Juan Garcia, 32, of Maspeth, N.Y., was preparing to make a left turn into the dinerâs parking lot, police said.
As the Honda attempted to make the turn, the two vehicles collided, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Garcia a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Hazardous Intersection
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the hazardous intersection of Mile Hill Road and Queen Street about 5:30 pm December 9.
Motorist Timothy Carlson, 45, of 6 Ironwood Drive, who was driving a 2007 Lexus sedan, was waiting at a stop sign on southbound Queen Street at the intersection, police said.
At that time, motorist Matthew Yitts, 18, of 8 Prospect Drive was driving a 1998 Dodge sedan eastward on Mile Hill Road and approaching the intersection, according to police.
As the Lexus attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Mile Hill Road, the Dodge attempted to make left turn onto northbound Queen Street, police said.Â
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries.
Police said that Carlson told them that he thought that Yitts was going to continue traveling eastward on Mile Hill Road before the impact occurred. Carlson received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.
Slippery Road
Motorist Angel Richardson, 21, of Danbury was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck eastward near 73 Butterfield Road about 7:45 am December 12, when the vehicle skidded on the icy roadway, spun around and then struck a curbside residential mailbox, after which the truck struck a tree, police report.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Richardson to Danbury Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said. Police took no enforcement.
Hawleyville Crash
About 8:30 am on December 2, motorist Joseph Dran, 57, of 48 Scudder Road, who was driving a 2008 Ford pickup truck westward on Mt Pleasant Road, was attempting to make a left turn into a commercial driveway at 151 Mt Pleasant Road, when westbound motorist Christopher Brown, 39, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1998 Nissan sedan, attempted to pass the Ford on the left, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Brown a written warning for passing in a no-passing zone.
Rollover Crash
During slippery road conditions on westbound Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet west of the Exit 9 on-ramp at about 3:20 am on December 12, motorist Ethan Parkhurst, 33, of Redding, who was driving a 1995 Toyota 4-Runner SUV, lost control of the vehicle and then spun around, after which the SUV flipped over several times, state police said.
Parkhurst, who received minor cuts in the mishap, reported no injuries and refused medical attention, state police said.
State police verbally warned Parkhurst for traveling too fast for conditions.
SUV Collision
Motorist Romulo Bonfim, 24, of Danbury who was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer SUV westward on Interstate 84, about 300 feet west of the Exit 9 on-ramp about 12:30 am December 10, fell asleep at the wheel, after which the vehicle went out of control and struck a concrete barrier along the right road shoulder, state police said.
Bonfim was not injured. State police issued Bonfim an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane and for driving without a license.
Off the Highway
Motorist Akeem Egbert, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy eastward on Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet east of the Exit 11 on-ramp, lost control of the vehicle, went off the right road shoulder and then went down an embankment at about 10:24 pm December 7, state police said.
The Subaru came to an uncontrolled final resting point about 100 feet into a wooded area, state police said.
Egbert was not injured and refused medical attention, according to state police. Egbert received an infraction for failure to maintain driving position in a travel lane, state police said.
Ford Vs Honda
At about 5:34 pm on December 13, motorist Lawrence Passaro, 62, of 10 Flat Swamp Road was driving a 2004 Honda sedan on eastbound Church Hill Road in the right-turn-only lane for the Exit 10 on-ramp of eastbound of Interstate 84, police said.
Motorist Maureen Jordan, 65, of Wilkes-Barre, Penn., who was driving a 2005 Ford sedan westward on Church Hill Road, was signaling to make a left turn into the driveway for the Blue Colony Diner at 66 Church Hill Road, police said.
A noncontact vehicle then stopped in eastbound Church Hill Roadâs straight-ahead lane, after which the Ford attempted to make the left turn but collided with the Honda, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Jordan for failure to grant the right of way.
Still Hill Road
Motorist Robert Abric, 39, of 37 Berkshire Road was driving a 2004 Jeep SUV westward on Still Hill Road about 10:17 am on December 10, when the vehicle went off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree, police report.
Abric was not injured. Police issued Abric an infraction for making a restricted turn.
Sandy Hook Accident
At about 3:34 pm on December 10, motorist Shannon McCarthy, 18, of 11 Clapboard Ridge Road, who was driving a 2005 Subaru sedan, was making a right turn from Bennetts Bridge Road onto Berkshire Road, when she lost control of the vehicle and it spun around, went off the right shoulder of Berkshire Road and struck some trees, police said.
McCarthy was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Guy Wire
Motorist Lif Torrejon, 26, of Bridgeport was driving a 2001 Nissan Maxima sedan westward on Cedar Hill Road and was approaching its intersection with Brushy Hill Road at about 4 am on December 12, when she attempted to stop for a stop sign, but the auto skidded on some ice and went across the intersection, striking a guy wire for a utility pole, police said.
Torrejon was not injured. Police verbally warned her for traveling too fast for conditions.
Church Hill Crash
About 5:43 pm on December 14, motorist Robert Silvaggi, 63, of Brookfield was driving a 2008 Chrysler sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.
At that time, motorist Scott Lametto, 44, of 49 Mile Hill Road South, who was driving a 2007 Nissan station wagon, was attempting to exit a driveway at 19 Church Hill Road to turn left to head eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries.
Police said they issued Lametto a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Road Rage
Newtown police said they investigated a report of a road rage incident that allegedly occurred in Newtown, Bethel, and Danbury on November 27.
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, motorist Kurt C. Brink, 49, of Danbury went to the police station at about 8:30 pm on December 15 and was charged with reckless driving, failure to drive a reasonable distance apart with the intent of harassing or intimidating, and illegal use of high-beam headlamps.
Details on the incident that prompted those charges were not immediately available from police.
After arrest processing, police released Brink on $100 bail for a January 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
