Students Receive Rotary Leadership Training
Newtown High School students Kaitlyn DiVanno and Quincey Blanchard recently reported to Newtown Rotary on their experiences completing Rotaryâs Youth Leadership Awards weekend training sessions.
Kaitlyn and Quincey were two of 40 students representing Connecticutâs lower four counties who attended.
The sessions emphasized the importance of time management, career planning, self-esteem, and effective communications.
These were lessons not taught in the classroom, Kaitlyn and Quincey reflected. But all are essential to live a successful life.
Kaitlyn is currently president of NHSâs chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), a member of the Newtown Youth Servicesâ (NYS) Youth Advisory Board, a member of the National Honor Society, yearbook editor, Ashlar volunteer, camp counselor, and child care provider.
Quincey is captain of the Girlsâ Cross Country, Outdoor and Indoor Track teams, captain of Senior League Baseball, a member of the schoolsâ Science Club, French Club, Peer Leadership Council, National Honor Society, and French Honor Society.
Both young leaders said they thoroughly enjoyed their training weekend.
