Toys For Tots

On Saturday, December 11, about a dozen Newtown police officers participated in the fourth annual “Stuff A Police Car With Toys for Tots” in front of KB Toyworks at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street. Overall, about 725 toys were donated. One anonymous donor gave $2,000 to the toy drive, which police used to purchase various toys including eight bicycles. Police also received $50 in cash donations for toy purchases from other people. The collected toys were taken to Curtiss & Crandon Realtors, 45 Main Street, for pickup by the US Marine Corps for distribution to hospitals, charitable organizations, and stressed families in the area. The collection will continue at Curtiss & Crandon until December 23. In the photos, police department records clerk Carol Kochiss, left, and her mother, Mary Bussolotti, shopped and gave their donations to police officer Andy Stinson and Baro, the department’s new police dog.
