Maritime Holiday Lighthouse Contest
Maritime Holiday Lighthouse Contest
SOUTH NORWALK â Lighthouses have traditionally guided seafarers around dangerous area and into the safe harbors of home.
This year The Maritime Aquarium is once again hosting a Holiday Lighthouse Contest, with uniquely decorated model lighthouses guiding visitors to the aquarium and into a cheerful holiday mood as the aquarium continues to celebrate the holidays. Aquarium ticket holders are invited to cast their votes to determine the winners.
The display of lighthouses will remain on view until January 18.
The Maritime Aquarium, at 10 North Water Street, is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Current exhibitions include âInto The Abyss: Extreme Deep Discovery Zone,â on view until September 2005, and the permanent exhibits âJellyfish Encounter,â âLoggerhead Turtlesâ and âOcean Playspace.â
Regular seal feedings, a river otter habitat, a touch tank and an open ocean tank are also set up.
Current IMAX offerings are Forces of Nature, Mysteries of Egypt and Flight of the Aquanaut; call for the IMAX schedule. Beginning December 26, the aquarium will begin showing Roar: Lions of The Kalahari.
