DUI Warrant

On December 12, police executed an arrest warrant against Michael Clark, 42, of 6 Crestwood Drive, charging him with driving under the influence and with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle in connection with a September 30 accident on Riverside Road.

In that nighttime accident, Clark who was heading westward in a Chevrolet Cavalier near 92 Riverside Road, crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an eastbound Kia Sephia carrying two people, police said. Motorist Kevin Parker, 35, of 29 Alpine Circle was driving the Kia, which carried passenger Marie Parker, 70, of the same address, police said.

The crash resulted in all three people being transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, according to police.

Police said that blood tests indicated that Clark was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The weapon charge stems from Clark having a machete with a 24-inch-long blade inside the Chevrolet, police said.

Clark is scheduled to appear December 21 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charges.

Warrant Served

Newtown police report they picked up Kellianne Brady, 43, of Danbury on December 12 at the Danbury police station and charged her on a warrant with second degree failure to appear in court and with interfering with police.

Police said the initial charge stemmed from Brady interfering with police at a past motor vehicle accident on Route 25. Police released Brady on $2,500 bail for a December 13 court appearance.

Vandalism

Police are investigating extensive vandalism that occurred overnight December 11-12 at 63 Parmalee Hill Road. The crime involved is first-degree criminal mischief, which concerns more than $1,500 of property damage. Police ask anyone with information on the crime to contact them at 426-5841.

Route 34 DUI

Police report that motorist Joseph Stuart, 54, of 3 Sutherland Drive, who was driving a 2002 Chrysler eastward on Route 34, near Old Mill Road, about 2:10 am December 11, crossed over into the westbound lane and then struck a rock ledge outcropping alongside the road.

The Chrysler then went back across the road and came to the rest on the road’s eastbound shoulder, police said.

Stuart experienced a minor injury in the accident, police report. Police said they gave Stuart field sobriety tests, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right. Stuart was released on $50 bail for a December 28 court appearance.

Intersection Crash

Motorist John Grisko, 24, of 32 Glen Road, who was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck, was making a left turn from Sugar Street onto Main Street about 8 pm December 9, when the Chevrolet collided with a 2000 Dodge Neon, which was being driven straight through that intersection from Glover Avenue toward Sugar Street by Christopher Steffen, 21 of Bethel, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Grisko an infraction ticket for a moving violation.

 

Jeep Vs Oldsmobile

Motorist John Zsoldos, 19, of Monroe, who was driving a 1994 Jeep Wrangler, was making a left turn from the Blue Colony Diner parking lot onto Church Hill Road and collided with motorist Richard Manzo, 64, of 20 Pilgrim Lane, who was driving a 1992 Oldsmobile Cierra on Church Hill Road at about 7:45 pm December 3, police said.

There were no injuries. Police gave Zsoldos a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Rear- Ender

Motorist Patricia Sharr, 58, of New Milford, who was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla northward on South Main Street in heavy traffic near the Ram Pasture at about 6:12 pm December 3, struck the rear end of a 2005 Acura coupe driven by John Hayes, 56, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Scharr for following too closely.

Fallen Tree

Motorist Elizabeth Sword, 68, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan southward on Toddy Hill Road about 5:30 pm December 1, encountered a tree that had fallen due to high winds, police said. The minivan collided with the tree’s branches, but Sword was not injured, police said. There was no enforcement. The town road crew removed the fallen tree.

Country Club Road

Motorist Lisa Saxon-Meyer, 44, of 58 Pine Tree Hill Road was heading southward on South Main Street in a 2002 Ford Taurus about 4:30 pm December 7, when an unknown motorist, who had stopped at a stop sign on Country Club Road, then entered South Main Street, struck the Ford and continued driving, heading northward on South Main Street, police report.

Saxon-Meyer was not injured. Police ask anyone with information about who was driving the auto which struck the Ford to contact them at 426-5841.

Mt Pleasant Collision

Motorist Elsa Espinal, 44, of Danbury, who was driving a 1991 Acura Legend, was heading westward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Tory Lane, about 4:30 pm December 6 on wet, icy roads, and then swerved into the eastbound lane because she was unable to stop for a westbound vehicle that had stopped in front of her to make a turn, police said.

The Acura then collided with an eastbound sport-utility vehicle driven by David Trapanese, 37, of Burlington, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Espinal an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.

Boggs Hill Mud

Motorist Charles Hill, 20, of 50 Osborne Hill Road, who was driving a 1993 Honda Accord on the northern end of Boggs Hill Road about 5:20 pm December 7, attempted to turn around, but ran off the road and got stuck in some mud, police said.

A wrecker pulled the Honda out of the mud. Hill was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

Icy Road

Motorist Crystal Stowe, 17, of Seymour was driving a 1994 Dodge Shadow northward on Toddy Hill Road about 8:12 pm December 6, when she lost control of the auto on the icy road, hit some guardrailing, and then rolled down an embankment, police said.

Stowe was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Larceny/Drug Charges

Police said a security guard at TJ Maxx at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street spotted Karen Booth, 53, of 13 Bear Hills Road place several garments inside her purse and then leave the store on the afternoon of December 10. The garments are worth about $77, police said.

Police said they went to the store to investigate and charged Booth with sixth degree larceny, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they found marijuana on Booth.

After posting $200 bail, police released Booth for a January 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Vehicle Break-Ins

State police report that someone broke into two vehicles that were parked at the commuter parking lot on Wasserman Way near Exit 11 of Interstate 84 and stole items from the autos, including radios. State police learned of the break-in about 4:30 am December 12. Anyone with information on the vandalism and theft is asked to contact state police at 267-2200.

DUI Accident

State police report that motorist Scott Deweese, 23, of 40 Philo Curtis Road was driving a 2002 Nissan Maxima at high speed eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, about 1:17 am December 9, when he drove into the rear end of a tractor-trailer truck driven by a Canadian trucker from New Brunswick.

The Nissan then crashed into guardrailing on the highway’s median, state police said. There were no injuries.

State police said Deweese failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, and speeding.

State police released Deweese on $2,000 bail for a December 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court where he will be arraigned on the charges before a judge.

Marijuana Arrest

State police report that after stopping a motorist to investigate a matter on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 8:48 pm December 8, they charged a passenger in the stopped vehicle with a drug violation.

State police charged passenger James Ruggles, 32, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. State police were held Ruggles on $1,000 bail for a court appearance the following day. 

Dodge Vs Deer

Motorist Ileen Greytak, 49, of 47 Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Caravan eastward near 61 Church Hill Road, encountered a deer in the road about 7:43 pm December 13 and collided with it, police said. Greytak was not injured. No enforcement was taken.

Minivan Vs Minivan

Police report that eastbound motorist Laurelyn Gordon, 37, of  46 Philo Curtis Road, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Caravan near 52 Church Hill Road about 5:28 pm December 13, stopped for traffic in the area, and was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Isabel Cummings, 46, of 98 Glen Road, who was driving a 2001 Ford Windstar.

There were no injuries. Police issued Cummings a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
