Newtown United Methodist Church began the month with a new holiday event.

Presented December 2, A Christmas Celebration was timed to lead right into the December 2 Sandy Hook Center tree lighting and the start of Advent.

All ages were invited to join NUMC members for a children’s program presented by Al “The Singing Principal” deCant to start the celebration. The program was in the hall of the Church Hill Road house of worship.

A Carol Sing then followed, with the public then invited to join NUMC members in their sanctuary for the sing-along.

Guests then bundled up for the short walk from the church down the hill to Sandy Hook Center, where the trees there were lit that evening for the first time this season.
