Degen Book Signing Event Planned In Bethel
BETHEL — On Saturday, December 17, 11 am, Byrd’s Books will welcome illustrator Bruce Degen for a program highlighting his newest book, Scoot: A Tiny New York Bird with a Great Big Idea.
With over 40 children’s books to his credit — including the Magic School Bus series and long-popular Jamberry — Degen has now visualized the delightful story, written by Fran Manushkin, of a house sparrow who helps other birds migrate through the confusing skyline of New York City.
Published in November and inspired by the real danger skyscrapers pose to urban wildlife, Manushkin — author of the beloved Katie Woo series and member of New York Audubon Society — crafted an uplifting tale with an important urban ecological message. Degen captured the dazzling views and lively energy of the city in vibrant gouache.
Scoot tells a classic New York City story from the perspective of the city’s most overlooked residents with wonder and heart.
Copies of Scoot can be reserved for signing by going to ByrdsBooks.com
