Newtown High School's wrestling team posted a 54-15 home win over New Fairfield, on December 15. Winners for the Nighthawks are as follows:The Bee.

In the 106 pound weight division, Evan Rooney scored a 4-0 decision. At 113 Nik Accousti won via pin in 3:20. At 120 Aidan Occhipinti earned a 6-1 decision. At 132 Aaron Occhipinti won via pin in 5:21. In the 138 weight class Owen Walsh earned a 7-1 decision. At 152 Jake Duarte won 5-4. In the 160 class Alex Stavola won by pin in 50 seconds. At 170 Joe Accousti won via in pin 28 seconds. At 182 Anthony Falbo won via forfeit. In the 220 division Tom Long was a winner via pin in 42 seconds. At 285 Joe Zeller won an exhibition match with a pin in 3:55.

Some varsity newcomers had their first match experience in this clash, and those grapplers along with the returnees wrestled well.

"I was really happy with everyone's performance," Newtown Coach Chris Bray said. "The new guys lived up to our expectations."
