Doris Pearson Laird
Doris Pearson Laird, 94, of Newtown, wife of the late James S. Laird, died December 12 in Southbury. She was born in New Haven, September 29, 1919, daughter of Raymond and Emma Rausch Pearson.
Mrs Laird was a registered physical therapist and graduated from the Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing as an RN.
She had been a resident of Newtown since 1963 and a part-time resident of Rupert, Vt., since 1954. Mrs Laird was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church and served for many years on the flower committee and the book of remembrance. She was an active member of the Newtown Horticulture Club and the Newtown Woman’s Club. She was also a driver for MealsOn Wheels and served as a nurse for the American Red Cross bloodmobile.
She will always be remembered for her loving kindness to her family and friends. She is survived by her sister-in-law Arline Laird, five nephews, and nine grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would like to thank her close friends and dedicated caregivers for all their help over the past several years.
There will be a memorial service December 21, at 10:30 am, at the Newtown Congregational Church. Committal will take place at the Newtown Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
