‘Toys!’ At The Mattatuck Museum

WATERBURY — The Mattatuck Museum has welcomed the holiday season with a whimsical exhibit of toys from Connecticut’s past.

“Toys!,” which curators hope will bring back fond memories of childhood and create new memories for the younger set of visitors, includes the William Brinley hand carved miniature circus on loan from The Barnum Museum in Bridgeport. It also features vintage dolls, toys and games from the Mattatuck’s collection as well as from private collections.

The exhibit is on view in the museum’s Community Gallery through Sunday, February 26.

The Mattatuck Museum Arts & History Center is operated with support from the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism, and is a member of the Connecticut Art Trail, 15 world class museums and historic sites (ArtTrail.org) across the state.

Located at 144 West Main Street in Waterbury, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.  Admission, $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, and free for ages 16 and under.
