Residents Sought To Fill Local Commission Seats

First Selectman Pat Llodra is seeking residents interested in volunteering for local government service by filling seats on local boards and commissions. These are appointed positions and anyone interested does not have to run for election to qualify.

Some positions may require specific expertise or political affiliations, while others provide opportunities for residents to serve regardless of their background or political status.

Openings are as follows:

*Lake Zoar Authority has a vacant position for a Republican or unaffiliated voter.

*Commission on Aging has an alternate vacant position for a Republican or an unaffiliated voter.

*Economic Development Commission has a vacancy for a Democrat or Unaffiliated voter.

*Sustainable Energy has a vacancy for a Democrat or unaffiliated voter and an open position to a Republican, unaffiliated or Independent voter.

*Cultural Arts Commission has a vacant position for a Democrat or unaffiliated voter.

*Public Building & Site Commission has a vacant position for a Republican or unaffiliated voter and an alternate position for a Republican or unaffiliated voter.

*Employee Benefits Oversight Committee: one available position to Democrat, Independent, and unaffiliated voters. Knowledge of insurance is preferable.

*Pension Committee has an opening available for a Republican or unaffiliated voter.

*Hattertown Historic District has two open positions open to any party affiliation for an alternate and a full board member position. There is also a vacant position for a Democrat or unaffiliated voter.

*Board of Ethics has two open positions, one open to any party affiliation the other to a Democrat, Independent or an unaffiliated voter.

*Building Board of Appeals has had three long-term openings open to any party affiliation.
