Police Collect More Than 700 Toys For Tots

At their annual “Stuff a Cop Car With Toys For Tots” event at Sand Hill Plaza, Newtown police on December 10 collected more than 700 toys for area needy children.

Police spent several hours in front of the KB Toyworks store collecting new, unwrapped toys.

The more than 700 toys collected represents a record number of toys collected at the event, which is in its fifth year.

An anonymous donor provided a check for $2,500 for toy purchases, police said. The Young family of Sandy Hook made a donation to the project in the memory of John Hill.

The US Marine Corps Reserve oversees the Toys For Tots program.
