Gabby, left, is a nine-year-old shepherd mix who weighs 54 lbs. She loves going for walks and has lots of energy for her age. Her favorite toys are her tennis ball and squeaky toys. She was neglected and had a bad flea infestation/allergy when she was found … but the good news is her hair is growing back and soon she will be beautiful once again. She’s negative for heartworm and she’s had rabies and distemper vaccines. She ignores cats and loves belly rubs and butt scratches. Jonah, second from left, is a magnificent, young boy about 14 months old. He may be a boxer, lab mix. He loves long walks and play and while he is muscular and strong, he has a sweet personality. Jonah needs a family who will provide daily exercise and the attention he deserves. Chopsey, third from left, is a very sweet, adult female mix of lab, shepherd and possibly chihuahua. She is about 28 pounds, very clean and loves to curl up on a blanket in an office chair. She is a senior dog, but has lots of energy and enjoys her walks. She would make a great companion for older people. She is negative for Heartworm and Lyme Disease, has had a rabies and a distemper shot, and her teeth look great. Jodi, second from right, is four and a half years old, an American Pitbull Terrier mix. She has a beautiful brindle coat and weighs 58 pounds. She walks beautifully on a leash and is extremely obedient and eager to please her humans. She is a very clean dog, completely housebroken, and is up to date with all her veterinary work (spayed, rabies & distemper vaccines, negative for heartworm and Lyme). She needs to be the only pet in the household and needs an adults-only family, preferably with a fenced-in yard. Ginger, right, is a female cat. Ginger was feral, but thanks to the loving care and attention of Gerri and Carolee, she is friendly and ready for adoption. If you can provide homes for these animals, call Newtown Animal Control at 426-6900 between 9 am and 4 pm Monday through Saturday. Call Canine Advocates at 426-5327 until 8 pm or if you are unable to reach the pound or it is after hours. All dogs get one month free pet insurance and two free training lessons from Candlewood Canine. (Connecticut inquiries only)
