Oxford Policeman Arrested on Warrant

On December 9, Newtown police arrested Oxford policeman James Burr, 44, of Prospect on a warrant lodging charges of disorderly conduct and second degree harassment. The arrest stems from a complaint filed against Burr in November.

The two charges involve telephone calls that Burr allegedly placed to a Newtown address, according to police. Police characterized the incident as a domestic dispute.

After processing his arrest, Newtown police released Burr on $500 bail for a December 12 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court. Burr is scheduled to return to Danbury Superior Court in January.

Burr faces other charges in Waterbury Superior Court connection with the ongoing domestic dispute.
